It's All Sophie's Fault

Let me give us all some back story while living in Canberra, Australia, I bought a laptop and then I found out that I could get the free download for Kindle on my PC.  I brought some random authors stories and then I purchased Small Town Siren. A love affair with Jack and Sam and then Julian started for me and I wanted to move to my dream home town of Bliss.  For me this was a life changing moment I had found an author that I loved as much as Nora Roberts.  This is how Sophie Oak changed my life for good.

Who would have thought my dedicated following of Sophie Oak would have led me to an international hot pot of friends but it truly did.  Sophie’s stories stirred up so many fantasies and dreams that I just couldn’t get enough.  I used to visit her website and I saw in the links for extras that I could chat with Righteous Perverts. Then there was the dedication in Siren Enslaved where she again mentioned the Wednesday night chatters. Since I found that Bliss and the Siren series spoke to me so strongly, I wanted to see if these perverts would accept me just as nicely as the weird and wonderful characters of Sophie were embraced.  So I bit the bullet and sent an email to request to join the Perverts and I was accepted.

My first chat I was gobsmacked the speed with which people were able to type and the topics and yes, how people spoke to each other.  Not often you hear people call each other Heifer and whore with so much love and affection.  Then there was the need to translate some of the American shorthand.  This is where Luna stepped in to help me translating with Tina assisting.  Luna was also the one who told me not to give up and just sit in the back ground lurking.  (I sometimes wonder if she regrets that advice when I am bombing recent chats with so many questions).

I quickly friended Chris No One Walker, Lori King and Mia Ashlinn.  It was awesome to be another Kiwi in Chris’s friend sphere.  Lori and Mia helped me with music and then I started reading their books and they have not been able to escape.  Amazing women that I thought were like superwoman and ten foot tall.  They made me feel welcome and I quickly started to comment on their posts and started to scare Chris and Lori with spider and weta photos from down under.  Such fun.

I had a snoopy dance moment when I got a friend request from Luna and then from Tina.  My happiest moment was one day when I mentioned that I had nearly been killed by my personal trainer and boom I was thread Jacked.  I had Tina, Luna, Lori and Chris chatting on my profile and 160 comments later I felt embraced.

I have since then had bored brainless blathering sessions, stayed on a lets’ just chat day for 6 hours chatting with my pervs and have had the time of my life.  Hi my name is Cherie: I am a dedicated follower or as we now call it, an agent of IRPP (Intense Research of Particular Persons), also I am an Impatient buttercup, am a founding member of the IEEGS (International Enablers and Encouragers Support Group) this is a saying that in my blathering with Luna due to her lack of sleep that we came up with, I was going to take charge of the Southern Hemisphere for us leaving you others in her tender care.

I am proud to say that even though I may still have issues with swearing in my comments, I know that though Sophie may have started me on this road I will ride it as long as it goes and all my perverts are welcome to car pool with me.

So has there been an author that has changed your life in a significant way?

P.S.  Bring on NOLA, I hope to see many of you amazing people there but beware I am a hugger. Lol.

Arohanui and Kia Kaha.
From the Perv of Middle Earth,

Cherie

  2. Ah the joys of family! I love you you little perv! :) The author for me that changed my world was Bertrice Small. I've always loved history so historical romances were a cinch for me. Once I read her book Adora I searched for more like it and found her Skye O'Malley series. That was all it took. I was hooked. Now I'm publishing my own erotic romance, and finding wonderful DF friends in the RP group.

  4. I completely know what you mean!! I joined Karen Marie Moning's message boards when I started reading her Fever series. Little did I know that would completely change my life. I've met some of my very best friends through the boards and had the most amazing experiences, like meetups, vacations and a half-marathon.
It's amazing when relationships like that are made through books and authors :)

  5. Insomnia, chats gone wild, thread jacking and books. You dropping question in chat is "Cherie bombing" (a take of on cherry bombs in case you don't know down there in Middle Earth) LOL Keep asking, it's why the readers and authors are in chats. Any time you need a translation of a phrase just say so, I've done it a few times with your New Zealand ones (for example the one you have in your blog signature).

Glad you found some other strange and weird people around the world to yammer with :)
